The Princely Palace of Monaco has been illuminated in blue since March 1st to mark the beginning of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a global initiative aimed at encouraging early detection and prevention…

This symbolic gesture is part of a broader campaign to raise awareness about the importance of screening, particularly for individuals over the age of 50. Colorectal cancer remains one of the most common and deadly forms of cancer, causing approximately 17,000 deaths each year in France alone. However, early diagnosis significantly improves survival rates, with a 90% chance of successful treatment if detected at an early stage.

In Monaco, residents are encouraged to take advantage of available screening tests, which can be obtained at the Princess Grace Hospital (CHPG) and from general practitioners. The non-invasive test, which detects hidden blood in the stool, can be life-saving by identifying cancer in its earliest and most treatable stages.

By lighting up one of the Principality’s most iconic landmarks, Monaco joins an international movement to spread awareness and emphasize the crucial role of routine screening. Health professionals continue to urge eligible individuals to prioritize testing, as it remains one of the most effective ways to reduce mortality rates associated with colorectal cancer.
