The Principality of Monaco has been awarded the prestigious title of Best European Destination 2025 by European Best Destinations, a leading tourism promotion organization and partner of the European Commission…
This recognition solidifies Monaco’s reputation as a premier travel destination on the international stage. Each year, European Best Destinations selects the most attractive locations across the continent and invites travellers from around the world to vote for their favourites. In 2025, more than one million votes were cast, securing Monaco the top spot in the ranking. The official European Best Destinations website attracts over six million visitors annually and benefits from global media coverage through outlets such as Forbes USA, Condé Nast Traveler, and Yahoo.
After securing second place in 2024, Monaco now ascends to the top of the podium, becoming the first French-speaking destination to win this title since Bordeaux in 2015. The vote saw participation from travellers across 170 countries, drawn to Monaco’s blend of elegance, vibrancy, and unique setting. This award enhances Monaco’s global appeal, providing increased visibility in premium media and travel publications while strengthening its international recognition. A particularly strong engagement came from the United States, where 42 percent of votes originated, followed by the United Kingdom with 34 percent, reinforcing Monaco’s position as a luxury and sustainable tourism leader.
Monaco’s Tourism and Convention Authority has long collaborated with European Best Destinations to expand the Principality’s reach. This partnership includes enhanced promotion on the European Best Destinations platform, media exposure through top-tier global travel outlets, and exclusive use of the “Best European Destination” label by Monaco’s hospitality and tourism partners.
Guy Antognelli, Director of Tourism and Conventions, highlighted the significance of this award, emphasizing that it reflects the collective efforts of Monaco’s tourism professionals, hospitality sector, businesses, and public services in maintaining an exceptional level of quality and innovation.
