Monaco is deepening its economic connections with Switzerland, as the Monaco Economic Board (MEB) continues its efforts to create new business opportunities for its members. In close collaboration with the Attractiveness Unit, Monaco Private Label, the Embassy of Monaco in Switzerland, and the Consulate of Monaco in Zurich, the MEB is laying the groundwork for stronger bilateral cooperation.
Following its first visit to Davos, the MEB extended its outreach with a strategic visit to Zurich from Tuesday, January 28 to Thursday, January 30. Executive Director General Guillaume Rose and Deputy Director General Justin Highman led the delegation, aiming to identify key economic opportunities and establish high-level connections ahead of a planned economic mission to Switzerland in the coming months.
The visit began with a meeting with Claire Louis, Deputy Director and Head of the Zurich office of the French-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Representing a network of over 1,000 Swiss and French businesses, the organisation plays a crucial role in cross-border economic collaboration and is a strategic partner for Monaco’s expansion efforts.
Discussions continued with Raphaël Tschanz, Director of the Zurich Chamber of Commerce, a major player in the region’s economic development. The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for mutual growth, with a particular emphasis on Zurich’s appeal as Switzerland’s economic capital.
The delegation also met with Laurin Brüninger, Global Consultant for Investment Promotion at Switzerland Global Enterprise. As Switzerland’s official export and economic promotion body, the organisation provides key insights into promising sectors for Monégasque entrepreneurs and potential foreign investment opportunities. Switzerland Global Enterprise also offers a valuable gateway for MEB companies seeking Swiss partners and distributors.
Beyond business, the visit had a cultural dimension. Delegates and their Swiss counterparts attended a performance of Romeo and Juliet by Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. The event, hosted in Zurich, brought together over twenty guests from Monaco’s economic and diplomatic networks, reinforcing ties in a prestigious setting.
This latest initiative reaffirms Monaco’s commitment to expanding its economic influence on the international stage. By strengthening relationships with Swiss business leaders and institutions, the MEB is paving the way for new collaborations that will benefit Monégasque companies in the near future.
