On January 12, 2025, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra (OPMC) delivered an unforgettable evening under the baton of acclaimed conductor Bertrand de Billy at the Auditorium Rainier III…

The program featured two monumental works: Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, showcasing the orchestra’s exceptional versatility and depth.

The evening began with Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, performed by the youthful and immensely talented Zeia Trio. Known for their remarkable synergy, the trio brought energy and a fresh perspective to this complex work. Their seamless interplay and dynamic interpretation captivated the audience, with Bertrand de Billy expertly balancing the orchestra to complement the trio’s brilliance. De Billy praised the trio for their cohesion and individuality, describing the collaboration as both challenging and rewarding.

In the second half, Bruckner’s majestic Symphony No. 7 transported the audience to another realm. It was the first time the OPMC had performed this symphony since 2011, making it a highly anticipated event. De Billy’s meticulous attention to detail and his ability to draw out the orchestra’s Germanic sound created a transcendent performance. The brass section’s richness and the Wagnerian tubas added a hauntingly beautiful dimension, leaving the audience spellbound.

Bertrand de Billy, who praised the OPMC as a “very open and focused orchestra,” will return to Monaco on January 19 for the Mozart Festival. His leadership and the orchestra’s artistry continue to elevate Monaco’s cultural scene, cementing its reputation as a hub for world-class music.
