Monaco’s nightlife landmark, Moods, has officially reopened its doors, marking a highly anticipated return after years of closure. Following an elegant inauguration led by HSH Prince Albert II, the revitalised venue, now called “The New Moods,” will welcome the public from Thursday, December 5, and is already fully booked for its opening weekend.

Located behind the Café de Paris, the revamped Moods blends its historic charm with a contemporary vision. Stéphane Valéri, Deputy President of the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM), reflected on the venue’s storied past during his opening remarks, calling it “a human adventure that lasted only three years but left a legendary mark on Monaco’s cultural scene.”

This iteration of Moods, under the stewardship of Stéphane Lobono, embraces a model that includes private events to ensure sustainability. The artistic program, curated by Alfonso Ciulla, combines live music with stand-up comedy. Opening night will feature Hassan de Monaco, setting the tone for a season rich in entertainment.

On the culinary front, celebrated chef Marcel Ravin has crafted a refined finger-food menu, further elevating the venue’s offerings. Open from December 5 through to March 2025, Moods will operate Thursday through Saturday from 18:00 to 00:00, with plans for annual seasons from October to March in the future.

The reopening ceremony was both a celebration of renewal and a tribute to Jean-René Palacio, the late artistic director who spearheaded the original Moods. Two of his electric guitars are now displayed at the entrance, a poignant reminder of his contributions to Monaco’s cultural heritage.

HSH Prince Albert II, joined by HSH Princess Charlene, symbolically re-lit a bulb that had been “off for 12 years,” marking the venue’s rebirth. Guests at the exclusive preview admired the chic redesign and sampled the hospitality before the public unveiling.

The New Moods has already attracted attention, with its first weekend fully booked and plans for one-off privatisations, including a year-end cocktail hosted by Monaco’s communications department. SBM’s collaborative team, including Luc Leroy, Alfonso Ciulla, and Frédéric Darnet, is credited with bringing the vision to life.
