On December 3, the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco hosted the Peace and Sport Awards 2024, honouring initiatives and individuals who use sport as a transformative tool for fostering peace, inclusion, and equity worldwide.

This annual event, organized by the Monaco-based Peace and Sport organization, celebrates the power of sport to build bridges and promote dialogue in communities. His Serene Highness Prince Albert II, Patron of Peace and Sport presented the prestigious Personality of the Year Award to Tony Estanguet, President of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee. Estanguet was recognized for his unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive and sustainable Olympic legacy, reflecting the values of equity and resilience central to Peace and Sport’s mission.

The event coincided with the 14th Peace and Sport International Forum, themed “Speak your Peace.” The forum featured the symbolic Peace Walk, uniting global leaders, Champions for Peace, and community actors in a powerful demonstration of sport’s role in fostering intercultural dialogue and social cohesion.

Peace and Sport operates on a grassroots approach, collaborating with communities to address challenges, replicate good practices, and scale impactful solutions. By working with international organizations, the group integrates sport into multi-sectoral strategies for peacebuilding and social inclusion. Its initiatives emphasize education, gender equality, and reconciliation while promoting partnerships to amplify civil society’s expertise.

The iconic #WhiteCard, symbolising peace through sport, underscores the organisation’s vision: a safer, more inclusive world where sport transmits values of neutrality, dialogue, and equity. The awards reaffirmed sport’s potential as a universal tool to inspire cooperation and create lasting change. Through events like these, Peace and Sport champions the message that sport is not just a game—it is a powerful force for unity and transformation.
