The Sovereign Order of Malta held a ceremony to award decorations from the Pro Merito Melitensi Order of Chivalry on Monday, December 2. The event celebrated the enduring ties between the Principality of Monaco and the Order, which date back decades.
During the ceremony, H.E. Alberto di Luca, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Monaco, highlighted the strong relationship between the Principality and the Order. He presented the Cross Pro Merito Melitensi with Plaque to Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Monaco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. Additionally, Isabelle Rosabrunetto, Director General of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation, and Marie-Catherine Caruso-Ravera, Director of Diplomatic and Consular Relations, were awarded the Cross Pro Merito Melitensi with Crown.
In her remarks following the ceremony, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï emphasised the deepening partnership between Monaco and the Sovereign Order of Malta since the establishment of official relations in 1957 and their elevation to diplomatic status in 2007. She highlighted shared values and common objectives, particularly in combating poverty, disease, and inequality on the international stage.
The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Christophe Steiner, Chief of Staff to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince; H.E. Jean d’Haussonville, French Ambassador to Monaco; Marc Lecourt, President of the Association of Honorary Consuls of Monaco and Honorary Consul General of Slovenia; and Jean Kerwat, President of the Order of Malta’s Monaco Association and Honorary Consul of Croatia.
Established in 1920, the Pro Merito Melitensi Order of Chivalry recognises individuals whose contributions have brought honour and prestige to the Sovereign Order of Malta.
