An electric car ended up overturned late on the evening of Saturday, November 30, in front of the Marché U on Boulevard d’Italie in Monaco. Firefighters and Public Safety teams quickly intervened to secure the scene and manage the incident.
The driver, a Monaco resident, was reportedly returning home alone around 23:30, after attending a party where he had consumed alcohol. According to preliminary findings and his statement to authorities on Sunday morning, the accident occurred when he swerved too sharply while driving at the speed limit, causing the car to spin and flip onto its side. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the vehicle sustained material damage.
The driver now faces prosecution in the criminal court for driving under the influence of alcohol and losing control of his vehicle.
This incident recalls a similar accident in March, where two young individuals driving a car without a license overturned their vehicle at the iconic Fairmont Hairpin bend, a well-known part of Monaco’s Formula 1 circuit. They escaped with only minor injuries.
Authorities continue to stress the importance of road safety and responsible driving to prevent such accidents.
