The 10th edition of the Riviera Electric Challenge (REC) kicked off this morning, Wednesday, November 13, from the Grimaldi Forum during the EVER 2024 exhibition. The final stretch of this electric rally will end tomorrow, November 14, at the foot of Château Grimaldi in Cagnes-sur-Mer, the organizing municipality, in collaboration with MC2D (Monaco Sustainable Development), and in partnership with Monaco City Hall and the municipality of Dolceacqua.
This year’s rally introduces a new route, offering competitors the chance to explore fresh scenery while carefully managing their electric consumption and practicing eco-driving—key principles of this unique challenge. More than a mere race, the Riviera Electric Challenge has evolved into a major international event, spanning France, Monaco, and Italy. Celebrated for its festive and unifying spirit, the event has become a significant annual highlight for institutions and advocates of electric mobility.
A total of 30 electric teams are participating this year, including three teams representing Monaco’s City Hall. Among them is an all-female team featuring Deputy Mayor Karyn Ardisson Salopek and Chief Inspector Christelle de Santi of the Municipal Police. Two additional teams were selected from voluntary City Hall employees. Additionally, Deputy Mayor Jacques Pastor and two City Hall staff members are assisting with race organization and overseeing the rally throughout its course.
This marks the eighth time that Monaco City Hall has taken part in the Riviera Electric Challenge, underscoring its ongoing environmental commitment and dedication to promoting clean vehicles and sustainable mobility options.
