In its second year, Immersive Week has returned to Monaco’s Maison du Numérique, focusing on the critical role of artificial intelligence (AI) and drawing a strong public response…
Organized by Monaco’s government, Monaco Telecom, and the town hall, the event aligns with the Principality’s ongoing mission to promote digital inclusion and close the digital divide. Highlighting AI’s current impact, Pascal Rouison, from the interministerial delegation for digital transformation, noted that AI is “a concrete reality of the present” and a driver for how people work, collaborate, and interact.
This year’s program, that concludes this Friday 15th November, features six conferences and a workshop for the general public, alongside seven more in-depth sessions for professionals at venues across the city, including the Rainier III auditorium, MonacoTech, and the Agora. Many of these sessions can also be attended via videoconference, making them accessible to a broader audience. According to Martin Péronnet, CEO of Monaco Telecom, Immersive Week acts as a form of “prevention,” providing practical insights to better prepare Monaco’s citizens and workers for the rapid advancements in digital technology.
The digital house itself, inaugurated last year, has been a crucial space for this effort, providing tools and workshops that bring digital skills within reach for everyone in the community, from digital novices to tech enthusiasts. Established in Monaco’s Jardins d’Apolline, the facility provides interactive terminals, computers, and dedicated advisors who guide residents, workers, and seniors through the digital landscape. Charles Maricic, deputy mayor in charge of the digital transition, reinforced this mission, emphasizing the need to support those who may struggle with adapting to new technologies.
This collaborative approach not only bridges the gap for those unfamiliar with digital technology but also lays the groundwork for more informed, accessible digital innovation in Monaco. Maricic stated that helping the public keep pace with the digital age is “a necessity as well as a duty.”
With AI as its focus this year, Immersive Week hopes to demystify this powerful technology, fostering a better understanding of AI’s applications and implications. The government, in turn, aims to integrate digital advancements that align with the values and goals of the Principality, ensuring that Monaco remains at the forefront of digital inclusivity and technological progress.
