Monte-Carlo’s beloved crèche is getting a major revamp with a green twist…

On Tuesday, October 15, Deputy Mayor François Lallemand, alongside Benjamin Marchal, Head of Technical Services, invited key members of the Communal Council for an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of the renovation works.

“This place was first built in 1992 and was due for a serious makeover,” Lallemand said, stressing the need to bring the facility up to speed with today’s standards for early childhood care. The extensive renovation, which kicked off in July, will modernize the crèche’s 535 square meters, ensuring it meets accessibility standards, upgrades its technical systems, and even swaps out the old windows for new ones.

What makes this overhaul even more impressive is its eco-friendly twist. Thanks to smart planning, much of the crèche’s reusable materials have been donated to nearby towns like Beausoleil and Antibes, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

During the tour, Operations Manager Christophe Augier led the delegation through the revamped spaces, showing off the massive progress made so far. The budget for the project initially stood at €1.24 million but was bumped up to €1.4 million after unexpected challenges, including surprise soundproofing and network fixes.

The finish line is in sight, with the crèche scheduled to reopen by early 2025, offering space for 40 little ones ready to enjoy the fresh new facilities!
