The inaugural edition of Rokéthon, an event dedicated to pets and aimed at raising awareness about the growing issue of pet abandonment, was held on Saturday, October 5 at the Fontvieille marquee in Monaco. The event, organised by the Rokéthon association, was graced by the presence of HSH Princess Charlène, who attended with her beloved chihuahua, Kita, adding a special touch to the day.

Spearheaded by association president Sylvia Sermenghi and vice-president Paula Paduroiu, Rokéthon’s mission is to highlight the increasing problem of pet abandonment, which has seen a sharp rise in recent years. To achieve this, the organisers prepared a full day of activities for both pets and their owners. A key feature of the event was a pet-friendly walk or run, which saw participants accompanied by their furry companions, allowing for a unique bonding experience.

Inside the Fontvieille marquee, a portion of the space was dedicated to showcasing animal-themed art. Local painters, photographers, and sculptors presented their works, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the association in support of its cause.

Meanwhile, another section was reserved for educational and professional presentations by veterinarians, a canine massage expert, a dog psychologist, and a creator of nutritious dog food products. These professionals offered services and advice in exchange for donations.
