The summer of 2024 proved to be a cultural triumph for Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum, as the exhibition ‘Turner, the Sublime Heritage’ attracted an impressive 65,000 visitors by the time it closed on Sunday, September 1. This monographic exhibition, dedicated to the renowned English painter William Turner, not only showcased his masterpieces but also juxtaposed his works with those of contemporary artists, offering a unique dialogue between the past and the present.
This success has firmly placed the Turner exhibition among the top five most popular summer events hosted by the Grimaldi Forum in its 25-year history. The high turnout reflects the enduring appeal of Turner’s evocative landscapes and his pioneering use of light and colour, which have left an indelible mark on the art world.
The Grimaldi Forum’s achievement is even more significant considering the competitive cultural calendar of the Principality, which regularly hosts a wide array of exhibitions and events. The ability to draw such large crowds highlights the exceptional curation and the resonance of Turner’s work with audiences of all ages.
Building on this success, the Grimaldi Forum is already setting the stage for its next major exhibition, scheduled for the summer of 2025.
