Céline Caron-Dagioni, Government Advisor-Minister of Equipment, Environment, and Urban Planning, unveiled a commemorative plaque alongside Wilma Lämmle, marking the 50th anniversary of the German International Club of Monaco.
A loyal member of the Principality club celebrating its gold anniversary, Lämmle made a donation in memory of her late husband, Eugen Lämmle, which financed the planting of eleven ‘Bottle Trees’ on Avenue Princesse Grace, in front of the Grimaldi Forum.
These Brachychiton trees, known as ‘Bottle Trees’ for their water-storing trunks, are well-suited to the Mediterranean climate and contribute to the city’s renaturation efforts.
The donation facilitated the purchase and planting of trees as part of the National Strategy for Biodiversity. Caron-Dagioni praised the German Club’s initiative and Lämmle’s significant contribution, highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing public policies aimed at adapting Monaco’s living environment to climate change.
