The Department of Social Affairs and Health has introduced a new “priority for disabled people” card as part of the ‘Handipact’ plan. This card is designed to facilitate daily life and travel for people with disabilities by providing priority access to seats on public transport, in waiting areas, and in public establishments and events.
The card features a more visible and identifiable logo, making it easier for beneficiaries to signal their status when needed. It is also internationally usable, with a logo and an English mention for recognition abroad, and is now printed on a durable credit card-type material. The previous model remains valid.
The new card is issued by the Directorate of Social Action and Assistance and can be obtained upon request or when the current card expires.
