HSH Prince Albert and HSH Princess Charlene, accompanied by Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, inaugurated Monaco’s new fire and rescue boat Saturday, May 4.
Monsignor Dominique-Marie David and Father Christian Venard, Chaplain of the Public Force, proceeded to the blessing of the boat moored at the port of Fontvieille. Following a technical presentation, The Princely couple and their children were able to go on board and witness a maneuver at sea.
The new vessel entered its home port passing under the “Great Waters”, a maritime tradition, which celebrates the start of an adventure for the ship and those associated with it.
She then moored at the Yacht Club of Monaco where the unveiling of the name took place. Named “Prince Jacques”, according to the wishes of the Prince, this unit will allow the Fire Brigade to have a more efficient and effective boat.
The main characteristics of ‘Prince Jacques’ are as follows:
- 1100 hp powertrain
- Gyroscopic stabilization system to counter heel
- Fire capacity of 5000 l/min
- Closed cabin to ensure the protection of personnel and victims transported and which allows
also the activation of all fire equipment - Motorized rear platform
- Important on-board electronics including a camera with thermal vision and 30x zoom, an anchor
electronic, an electronic identification system for identifying ships, radar,
navigation system with mapping…
