Swimmer Lisa Pou is the first Monegasque athlete to secure a spot in the 2024 Olympics after her remarkable performance in the 10 km swimming event at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday, February 3, has earned her a well-deserved ticket to the upcoming Games in Paris. Despite finishing ninth, Lisa clinched her place among the Olympic elite by meeting the top 13 requirement with an impressive time of 1h57’33.40, just 7 seconds shy of first place.
In April 2023, Lisa Pou claimed victory in both the 5 km and 10 km races at the Martinique Open, serving as a French qualifier for the 2023 World Championships. Following her triumph, she made a significant announcement, declaring her allegiance to Monaco for future competitions.
Guiding her along the journey is her father, Michel, a two-time Olympian for France, who also lends his coaching expertise to AS Monaco.
As athletes worldwide prepare for the summer showdown, Lisa Pou and Théo Druenne lead the charge in swimming, while Quentin Antognelli represents Monaco in rowing and Alexander Ehlen in Kitefoil.
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will transform the City of Lights into a global sporting extravaganza from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
