As the Principality grapples with a shortage of parking spaces, the Public Parking Service has been given extra powers to impound vehicles to free up extra spaces.

Vehicles that have been abandoned by their owners are a particular problem that the new powers will address.

“Infringements of articles 31 and 32 committed in public car parks may be noted by agents of the Public Parking Service specially sworn for this purpose. In the event of an offence thus noted, the vehicle may be impounded by agents of the authority at the expense, risk and peril of the offender,’ the applicable Sovereign order states.

Currently there are several thousand applicants waiting for a parking space paid for by monthly subscription.
