AS Monaco have announced the contract extension of young defender Chrislain Matsima for another three seasons, until 2026.
Matsima began training at the highly regarded AS Monaco Academy in 2017, and signed his first professional contract with the Principality side in 2020, before making 38 appearances in red and white all before turning 22.
Boasting a towering stature and the versatility to play both centrally and as a full-back out wide, Matsima is an asset to the defensive line. This has been recognised by the French national team, which Matsima has represented in all age groups, from the Under-16 team to the U-21s.
Continuing to flourish under Monaco head coach Adi Hütter, Matsima contributed to Monaco’s 2-1 win over Metz with an assist to set up Aleksandr Golovin’s top-bin screamer on Sunday, October 22, a few days after scoring with the French U-21s in their record breaking 9-0 win over Cyprus on Tuesday, October 17.
