An unlikely collaboration between automotive giant Mercedes-Benz and luxury fashion house Moncler has resulted in the Project Mondo G, a sculpture on wheels with a very bold design statement.
The iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class, more affectionately known as the G-Wagon, has been merged with Moncler’s puffer jacket and the resulting creation is certainly a sight to behold. The typically angular G-Class body boasts shiny wheels and a roof that more than strongly resemble a puffer jacket, adorned with a larger than life Moncler zipper to boot.
“The collaboration with Moncler inspired us to create a real iconic sculpture on wheels – a very bold design statement: our Project Mondo G. Based on our design philosophy Sensual Purity, this art piece merges extremely contrasting forms and surfaces: spacecraft shiny materials with a used patina look; strong geometry of the G-Class with organic forms of Moncler puffer jackets,” says Mercedes-Benz Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener, adding that the “two strong luxury brands offer an extraordinary new experience by combining automotive and fashion world united in one piece.”
The art piece was first unveiled in London Fashion Week in February, 2023 and will take its place alongside other out of this world exhibitors at the upcoming ELEVATE Monte-Carlo Space Conference in the Principality’s Grimaldi Forum from Tuesday, October 17 to Thursday, October 19.
ELEVATE founder Zsolt Szemerszky told NEWS.MC “We are very happy to present such an iconic art-piece in Monaco for the first time. The Mondo G Project proves that ELEVATE brings together not just the space and sustainability professionals, but also the car and fashion lovers to showcase the borderless imagination.”
