A Monegasque delegation led by Ms Isabelle Rosabrunetto, Director General of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation, took part in the work of the 67th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which took place in Vienna from September 25 to 29.
During her speech, M. Rosabrunetto praised the Agency’s efforts to preserve the safety and security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine with the deployment of the IAEA Support and Assistance Mission in Zaporizhia (ISAMZ). She also reiterated Monaco’s support to the activities of the Organisation and particularly in the field of peaceful applications of nuclear sciences and technologies in favour of the preservation of the environment and human health.
She highlighted that the year 2023 marked the 25th anniversary of the installation of the IAEA Marine Environment Laboratories in their current premises on Quai Antoine 1, Monaco, in this commemorative year of the centenary of the birth of Prince Rainier III, initiator of the arrival of the Laboratories in 1961.
On the sidelines of the General Conference, Mrs Rosabrunetto also participated in an event on the “Rays of Hope” Initiative, an IAEA program that aims to support the creation of radiotherapy units in a number of countries that do not have them, particularly on the African continent. She recalled the support of the Prince’s Government for this Initiative.
The Monegasque delegation was composed of Ms Isabelle Rosabrunetto, Director General of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation (DREC), of HE Mr. Lorenzo Ravano, Ambassador, Representative Resident of Monaco with the IAEA and Mr Andrea Colombo-Pastorelli, Second Secretary at the Embassy from Monaco to Germany.
