Monaco’s zoo, the Jardin Animalier Rainier-III to give it its correct title, has reported the loss of one of its youngest residents.
The young rose flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus) that was born on June 1 was attacked by a wild Grey Heron during Friday night and succumbed to its injuries.
“Our daily life is full of joys but also sorrows,” the Jardin Animalier said on its Facebook page, adding that next year will provide another opportunity to raise a young rose flamingo.
