Monaco resident Bodhi Van der Linden subdued the competition in the ILCA 6 laser sailing competition under capricious weather conditions at the weekend, Ouest France reports. He now holds the title of French champion in the category.
After a day of trials on Friday made difficult and even dangerous by the weather conditions, the 90 competing laser sailors remained at the quay.
“The sea and the changing winds got the better of the competition despite the sailors’ desire to battle it out. But the race committee and the organising club, the Foyer Laïque de Lanester, thought it wiser to stick to the results obtained on Friday evening,” said Dominique Le Garrec, one of the organisers. For the laserists in ILCA 6, who were competing for their French championship, the battle between skippers of the French team therefore ended there.
The competition was dominated by Bodhi Van der Linden, who was the winner of four races out of the seven run.
