The body of a man in his sixties was retrieved from the sea in Fontvieille on Saturday.
The corpse was discovered mid-morning on Saturday, wedged in rocks, by an employee of the sea scooter association.
The man was well-known in the area and was homeless. A letter was found on the body, according to police sources.
There was no sign of an assault and an autopsy will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
