The art salon artmonte-carlo celebrates its seventh anniversary from July 8 to July 9 at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and the direction of Thomas Hug. The salon d’art will host a prestigious selection of international galleries, presented in parallel to a large Claude Monet retrospective at the Grimaldi Forum.

As in previous year, 34 galleries were hand-picked, according to the organisers In 2016, Thomas Hug, the founder of artgenève (created in 2012) saw that the format of his human-scale Swiss fair could be exported to the south of France.

This year the salon d’art capitalises on the hustle and bustle of the region’s major exhibitions and events – Les Rencontres d’Arles, Jean Paul Riopelle at the Fondation Maeght, Thu-Van Tran at Nice’s MAMAC – and the concurrent opening of the Claude Monet exhibition at the Grimaldi Forum, as well as George Condo (Villa Paloma) and Mauro Restiffe, Jean Cocteau Santo Sospir (Villa Sauber) at NMNM and Monaco Art Week which are likely to draw a large numbers of visitors to the fair.

Success also comes from the loyalty of major names, such as Perrotin, Hauser & Wirth, which opened a space on Monaco in 2021, White Cube, Nathalie Obadia, Esther Schipper, Mennour, Almine Rech, Xippas, LGDR and Franco Noero and for its premiere participation Bienvenue Steinberg & J, Hoffmann +Maler +Wallenberg.

Although the focus is on contemporary art, a number of galleries are also exhibiting modern masters, including Vedovi, participating for the first time, Robilant+Voena, Van de Weghe and Ward Moretti. All agree on the importance of the event in terms of international collectors and the region’s reputation for purchasing power.
