Unsurprisingly after lockdowns and the temporary closure of Terminal 1, passenger numbers doubled at the Nice Côte d’Azur airport in 2022 compared to 2021.
A total of 12.2 million passengers travelled through the airport, well short of the 14.5 million passengers in 2019, the last full year before coronavirus restrictions.
This year seems likely to see numbers well above 2022. Among new destinations served will be Atlanta, an important US hub, daily from May 12 until September 29 operated by Delta Airlines.
Emirates has also announced that it is upgrading from Boeing 777 to the A380, the largest passenger aircraft in service with a capacity of 500 passengers.
Looking forward, talks are reportedly underway to establish a new route from Nice to Miami. This will be of great interest to many Monaco residents and also help open up travel to and from Latin America.
