Major repair work on the Cimiez rail tunnel just east of Nice has come to an end, allowing trains to use both tracks again along the route from Nice to Ventimiglia.

The major reinforcement work on the roof of the Villefranche-sur-Mer tunnel was completed in December.

Both projects had been started on August 30 last year in order to concentrate disruption over the autumn and winter period. During the work, the French train operator had worked closely with the Monaco Government to enable key workers, such as staff at Princess Grace Hospital, to come to work when trains weren’t running, mainly by using substitute buses.

From Monday, April 4, four TER trains are running each home during both peak periods, in the morning and afternoon, making rail commuting to Monaco much easier than it has been over the past few months.
