An ambulance man took advantage of a frail 90 year-old woman to extract large sums of money from her, Monaco Criminal Court decided.

According to a court report in Monaco Matin, the victim’s niece uncovered the fraud, involving an initial 70,000 euros, and reported the 39 year-old to police in Monaco.

The lawyer acting for the victim told the court that the lady, being frail, had no recollection of the transactions. On the other hand, the counsel for the defence argued that alleged victim was fully aware of what she was doing.

The French-language daily noted that the culprit was given a suspended sentence of 12 months, ordered to pay 11,100 euros in damages, and put on probation for two years.
