Celebrated pianist Lang Lang had to return to the stage four times at the Grimaldi Forum on Thursday evening as the enraptured audience applauded his stunning performance of the Goldberg Variations by Bach.

Eventually, the world-renowned pianist acquiesced to the capacity audience’s demands and played Schindler’s Jasmine Flower, based on a popular Chinese folk song.

“I’ve been studying this work for more than 20 years – performing and recording it has been a lifelong dream,” Lang Lang said about J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations.

Lang Lang is a leading figure in classical music today – as a pianist, educator and philanthropist he has become one of the world’s most influential and committed ambassadors for the arts in the 21st century, the Grimaldi Forum said.

His latest album ‘Goldberg Variations’ is already available.
