France’s Prime Minister must isolate for seven days after his wife tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, June 9.

This will be the third quarantine for Jean Castex in less than 12 months and the news broke on the day that many of France’s pandemic restrictions were eased.

Mr Castex has had one jab, 11 and a half weeks ago and was due to receive his second within days. He tested negative on Wednesday night.

During the day he had a number of meetings with a range of other ministers and in the morning visited a gym.

Meanwhile, government spokesman Gabriel Attal said that 30 million French people will have had the first inoculation.
