Three residents, aged 82, 90 and 92, all of whom had tested positive for coronavirus, were reported to have died in the latest 24-hour period for which data is available.

The latest deaths take the total since the start of the pandemic to 17, according to Government calculations.

Minister of State Pierre Dartout said on Tuesday night: “This evening, we deplore a particularly heavy health toll. On behalf of the Prince’s Government, I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the families and relatives of these people. We assure them of the full support of the Government at these times of great sadness for the whole of the national community.”

In addition, forty-four new cases of coronavirus were reported on Tuesday, February 2. There were 12 full recoveries.

The number of residents being treated at Princess Grace Hospital has risen to 39, including five in intensive care.

The number of residents with mild symptoms recovering at home under the supervision of the Home Monitoring Centre stands at 127.

Meanwhile, in the UK 16,840 new cases and 1,449 new deaths were reported on Tuesday.
