Saturday, January 23, witnessed a big surge in coronavirus cases among Monaco residents, with 34 new cases over 24 hours. On Friday the figure was 24 new cases.

Twenty-seven residents are being treated at Princess Grace Hospital, four of them in intensive care.

Including patients from outside the Principality and within the hospital’s catchment area, the total number of coronavirus patients at CHPG stands at 52.

A total of 152 residents with mild symptoms are recovering at home under the supervision of the Home Monitoring Centre. Twenty-two residents fully recovered over the 24-hour period.

Meanwhile, in the UK new deaths continue at a high level, with 1,348 new deaths reported on Saturday and 33,552 new cases. In France there were 23,924 new cases and 230 new deaths.
