On Friday evening 24 residents were reported to have contracted coronavirus in the previous 24 hours, the biggest daily jump since the start of the pandemic.

There has been a less dramatic change in the number of hospitalisations, with a total of nine residents being cared for at the Princess Grace Hospital, three in intensive care.

Thirteen residents have been reported as fully-recovered over the previous 24 hours. The number of residents with mild symptoms, recovering at home under the supervision of the Home Monitoring Centre, now stands at 99, the Government said on Friday evening.

To date, since the beginning of the pandemic earlier this year, only one resident has died as a result of contracting coronavirus.

On Thursday the Government called on everyone to respect social distancing measures and to wear masks in all public places.
