In a symbolic and practical sign that life is getting back to normal in Monaco, the Prince’s carabiniers resumed their tradition of changing the guard outside the Prince’s Palace on Friday following a three-month break due to the coronavirus.
One notable difference from the last ceremony in March was the fact that the carabiniers all wore face masks, albeit emblazoned with the slogan Deo Juvante (In God We Trust).
In addition to the 150 spectators in the square, one special observer watched from a window and took his own photo, as HSH Prince Albert witnessed the resumption of a ritual that dates back to the 19th century.
