“That’s it! Like going back to school, the long-awaited time for the resumption of church celebrations has arrived “ a Church spokesman said on Tuesday, May 5, referring to the reopening of Monaco’s churches on Monday as Monaco left the coronavirus lockdown.
“Admittedly, it is not yet Sunday but, it is clear that attendance will increase. Meanwhile, the Diocese continues to encourage the most vulnerable people to stay at home.”
Various practical steps have been taken to ensure social distancing in Monaco’s churches. Masks have been distributed at the entrance to churches, some seats in pews have been marked as not to be used, and floor markings remind the faithful to keep their distance from others. Worshippers must stay in their seats and priests move around to be closer to parishioners.
