A bitter dispute between the operators of bus shelter advertising has ended up in the Monaco courts.

The two protagonists, JC Decaux and Clear Channel, have been at loggerheads in France since last year. JCDecaux took the case to court in Monaco following the award of the licence to an American competitor, Clear Channel. A lawyer for the French company has claimed that the contract was awarded without any call for competitive bids, according to local French-language daily Monaco Matin.

The Government, on the other hand, claimed in court that the rules had been followed. A court decision is now expected on April 9.
