A young driver who admitted drinking a significant amount of alcohol late into the night on Port Hercule damaged the exit barrier of the Antoine 1 car park to the tune of 1,596 euros, Monaco’s Criminal Court was told.

The culprit lifted the barrier with his hands before making his exit, causing damage to the mechanism.

Alerted by the parking attendant, he was arrested on blvd. Albert 1, having made it past Rascasse.

He was also driving without a valid licence.

Already with a record in France for drunk driving the defendant was fined 2,000 euros, suspended until the next time, plus two additional fines of 500 each and a penalty of 45 euros.

He was also banned from driving in the Principality for 18 months.
