As AS Monaco celebrates its 100th anniversary this season, the Principality club, in partnership with Kappa, has launched a special collector’s jersey inspired by the very first kit worn by the team in 1924. The limited-edition jersey is a tribute to the club’s rich history and legacy.
A Design Steeped in Tradition
This black jersey pays homage to Monaco’s original teams, featuring a white polo collar that mirrors the design from 1924. The elegant, historically inspired design captures the authenticity of the early years when the club’s first players took to the pitch.
The jersey’s crest is a standout feature—a carefully embroidered replica of the emblem worn during Monaco’s inaugural seasons. The crest prominently displays the letters “ASM,” while the lower section features red and white diamonds, a nod to the House of Grimaldi’s coat of arms. This emblematic design also served as inspiration for Princess Grace in 1960, when she introduced the iconic diagonal pattern now synonymous with Monaco’s home kit.
A Tribute to the Club’s Icons
Marking the club’s century of passion and success, the dates “1924-2024” are displayed at the base of the crest. Additionally, the official logo of the centenary celebrations is featured on the back of the jersey, just below the collar. In a unique touch, the jersey’s numbers are flanked by the names of players and coaches who have made a lasting impact on the club’s history, adding a deeper sense of pride and legacy.
Unveiled with Monaco’s Greatest
The exclusive jersey was showcased in a special video featuring HSH Prince Albert, Monaco’s most capped player Jean-Luc Ettori, and members of the current squad. This historic kit will make its debut during Monaco’s match against Montpellier this Saturday, as part of the club’s centenary celebrations.
