On Monday, September 2, Didier Guillaume officially took office as the new Minister of State of the Principality of Monaco, following his appointment by sovereign decree. The swearing-in ceremony took place late in the morning at the Prince’s Palace, where Guillaume pledged his oath before HSH Prince Albert.

The ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including HSH Princess Charlene, Crown Prince Jacques, Princess Gabriella, Secretary of State Yvette Lambin-Berti, government ministers, Christophe Steiner, the Director of the Prince’s Cabinet, and other Cabinet advisors.

Following the oath, Prince Albert presented Didier Guillaume with a roadmap focused on several key objectives for his tenure. These include advancing the Principality’s energy transition while encouraging a “renaturalization” of the city, bringing nature back to areas currently dominated by concrete and asphalt. Guillaume is also tasked with rethinking urban planning and mobility strategies to make them more sustainable, and adapting public safety policies to address future challenges.

Strengthening Monaco’s international standing on major global issues is another priority, as is reshaping economic and fiscal policies to meet future public finance needs.
