A 22 year-old from the neighbouring commune was caught red-handed stealing from a moped parked at the Fontvieille Commercial Centre, thanks to the CCTV system, Monaco Criminal Court was told last week.
The culprit had been banned from the Principality in a previous court case in May 2020. Returning illegally in September 2021, he took 50 euros and a tablet, local French-language daily Monaco Matin reports.
Despite his young age, the young man had five previous convictions in Monaco and 17 in France, prompting the prosecutor to remark that he was evidently “anchored in delinquency.”
Not present in court, the defendant was sentenced to two months in jail.
