His Serene Highness Prince Albert II has continued his African tour with visits to Cameroon and Senegal, combining diplomatic discussions and humanitarian commitments with his participation in the historic Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, the first Olympic event to be staged on African soil…

Following his visit to Madagascar, the Sovereign travelled to Cameroon, where he was received by President Paul Biya in Yaoundé. Their discussions covered bilateral relations, international affairs and opportunities for further cooperation. The Prince also recalled his previous visit in 2003, when he was still Hereditary Prince, and expressed his hopes for Cameroon’s continued development.

A particularly significant engagement was his return to the Edimar Princess Grace Centre, which supports more than 160 vulnerable children and young people affected by homelessness and poverty. Established with the support of the Monegasque association Monaco Aide et Présence, the centre was inaugurated in 2003 in the Prince’s presence. Accompanied by Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya, and the Minister of Social Affairs, he learned about its work helping children rebuild their confidence and find stability.

The Sovereign subsequently travelled to Dakar, arriving on Saturday to attend the opening ceremony of the Youth Olympic Games, bringing together approximately 2,700 athletes aged between 14 and 17. He also met International Olympic Committee President Kirsty Coventry and members of Monaco’s delegation.

Alongside the Games, HSH Prince Albert II participated in the Dakar 2026 Summit on Sport and Sustainable Development, joining other heads of state to examine how major sporting events can deliver lasting social and economic benefits.

The visits reflected two longstanding priorities of the Prince’s international engagement: supporting vulnerable communities and promoting sport as a means of education, inclusion and sustainable development.
