The initiative gives young people a valuable opportunity to contribute directly to public life and propose practical improvements to the Principality. Students from Lycée Rainier III, Lycée Albert Ier and Lycée François d’Assise–Nicolas Barré volunteered to take part, bringing fresh perspectives on issues affecting everyday life. During the inaugural session, they discovered how their ideas could develop into formal proposals for consideration by Monaco’s authorities.
Amongst the first projects discussed was the problem of food waste in restaurants. Students explored ways of redistributing surplus meals rather than throwing them away, potentially benefiting people in need whilst reducing unnecessary waste.

Established in 2007, the youth initiative has welcomed nearly 600 students over two decades, with 79 resolutions adopted and forwarded to the authorities. Throughout the academic year, participants will work alongside teachers and council advisers to refine their proposals before presenting them for a final vote next spring, demonstrating that young people play a meaningful role in shaping Monaco’s future.
