The Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation announced the winners of its 2026 awards on Tuesday, October 13, during a ceremony at the Opéra Garnier in Monte-Carlo, attended by Princess of Hanover, President of the Foundation. The event was presented by journalist and author Elisabeth Quin.

The annual awards recognise achievements across literature, contemporary music and philosophy, bringing together established names and emerging talent.

In literature, the Foundation’s Literary Prize was awarded to Daniel Pennac for his entire body of work. The Discovery Grant went to Soundouss Chraïbi for her debut novel, Le soleil se lève deux fois, published by Gallimard, while Camille Leyvraz received the High School Students’ Favourite Prize for her first novel, Rouille, published by La Veilleuse.

The music awards recognised two different approaches to contemporary composition. Alexandre Jamar received the Musical Springboard Prize for his 2025 work alfabet, which was self-published. Meanwhile, David Fulmer was awarded the Young Music Lovers’ Favourite Prize for I have loved a stream and a shadow, a work for solo piano composed in 2022–2023.

In philosophy, the Principality Prize was awarded to American philosopher Martha Nussbaum for her body of work. The distinction is jointly presented by the Rencontres Philosophiques de Monaco and the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation.

Established to support and promote contemporary creation, the Foundation recognises both established figures whose work has made a lasting contribution to their fields and emerging artists whose work demonstrates particular promise.

This year’s awards once again highlighted the breadth of artistic and intellectual achievement celebrated in Monaco, from literature and musical composition to philosophical thought.
