“Princess Charlène and I, together with our family and the entire Principality, wish to express our wholehearted support and assure You of our fervent prayers,” the Prince wrote.
He also wished Pope Leo XIV a successful operation and a swift recovery, highlighting the importance of his continued ministry at a time of international uncertainty.
“We pray that the operation will be successful and that Your recovery will be swift and complete, enabling You to resume Your Ministry with renewed strength, at a time when the world needs Your guidance more than ever,” the letter continued.
Pope Leo XIV underwent surgery at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Tuesday, October 13. The Vatican subsequently confirmed that the procedure had been successful. The operation followed medical examinations that identified a localised nodule in the Pope’s lung.
Prince Albert concluded his letter by reaffirming his “most faithful and respectful devotion” to the Holy Father.
The message reflects the close relationship between Monaco and the Holy See, with Catholicism holding the status of the state religion in the Principality.
Through his letter, the Sovereign Prince conveyed Monaco’s wishes for the Pope’s recovery, offering a message of solidarity ahead of the operation that was subsequently shared with the public following the procedure.
