Princess Charlene illuminated Casino Square in pink on Saturday evening, marking Monaco’s support for Pink October and the international campaign to raise awareness of breast cancer…
Accompanied by her brother Gareth Wittstock, the Princess took part in the symbolic lighting ceremony in her role as Honorary President of Pink Ribbon Monaco.
Princess Charlene has been a prominent supporter of Pink Ribbon Monaco and its efforts to increase awareness within the Principality.
For the 16th consecutive year, the Pink Ribbon Monaco association is organising the Principality’s Pink October campaign, drawing attention to the importance of prevention, screening and treatment for breast and gynaecological cancers.
Throughout this month, 24 buildings across Monaco will be illuminated in pink, creating a highly visible show of solidarity. The Prince’s Palace is amongst the landmarks taking part.
The illumination of Casino Square traditionally provides one of the campaign’s most striking visual references, transforming the heart of Monte-Carlo with Pink Ribbon’s signature colour.
Pink October is observed internationally each year, encouraging greater awareness of breast cancer and highlighting the importance of early detection. Enjoy the pink, but please do think, as awareness and early detection can save lives.
