Monaco takes part in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) for the eighth consecutive year this November, running from the 21st to the 29th under this year’s theme: “Questioning our choices, valuing our resources.”
The Directorate of the Environment is inviting residents, businesses and organisations across the Principality to take part in what stands as Europe’s largest awareness campaign dedicated to waste prevention. The initiative centres on a clear message: encouraging both the public and economic sector to embrace the “3Rs,” or even “5Rs,” refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, and return to the earth.
This year’s edition places particular emphasis on more mindful consumption, focusing on genuinely meeting essential needs while restructuring how society uses resources more broadly.
Last year’s seventh edition proved a strong success, with 96 individual actions carried out by 69 participating organisations across Monaco. Administrations, associations, businesses, private individuals and schools are all encouraged to get involved this year by becoming a “project leader,” offering a meaningful way to help the Principality tackle waste while adopting better habits throughout the year.
