Aleksa Mitrovic has brought his season to a triumphant close by winning gold in the under-90kg judo category at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto…
The Monaco club member, representing France at the Games, delivered an impressive performance to reach the final, where he faced Italian judoka Christian Parlati, the 2025 European champion.
With little separating the two fighters during regulation time, the contest went into Golden Score, where the first successful scoring action or penalty can decide the outcome. Mitrovic held his nerve to overcome his accomplished opponent and secure the gold medal.
The victory provides a fitting conclusion to what has already been an outstanding season for the judoka, during which he has collected a series of titles and medals on the international stage.
Success in Taranto also underlines Mitrovic’s continued progress at the highest levels of the sport, with victory over a reigning European champion providing an emphatic final statement before the season comes to an end.
For Mitrovic, it is another significant medal for the collection, and this time, the colour is gold.
