A man who fell onto the railway tracks at Monaco-Monte-Carlo station on Tuesday afternoon has died despite efforts by emergency services to save him…
As News.MC reported yesterday, the incident occurred at around 16:00 near the platform serving track C, on the Marseille-bound line. Train services were immediately suspended in both directions and the station was evacuated and closed to passengers whilst a major emergency response took place.
As reported by Monaco-Matin, the Monaco Public Prosecutor’s Office subsequently confirmed that the man had died. An SMUR emergency medical team and 12 Monaco firefighters were involved in attempts to resuscitate the victim, whilst officers from the Principality’s Public Security department also attended the scene.
The identity of the man had not been established at the time of the latest update, with the prosecutor’s office confirming that the identification process was underway. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s fall has been entrusted to the Public Security department.
After several hours of significant disruption, rail services through Monaco began gradually resuming in both directions from around 19:00 on Tuesday evening.
