Young people from Monaco are being invited to join a European initiative examining disinformation, quality journalism and the growing challenge of identifying trustworthy information online…
‘Youth Facing Disinformation – Why Journalists Matter’ will bring together young people from the Council of Europe’s 46 member states in Strasbourg on November 9 and 10. The initiative is organised by the Council of Europe under the Monaco Presidency, with applications open to participants aged 18 to 30 until September 1.
The first day, held at the Palais de l’Europe, will bring participants together with journalists, digital creators, policymakers, researchers and media experts. Discussions will cover information manipulation, journalism in the digital age, artificial intelligence, media literacy and the safety of journalists.
A second day of interactive workshops at the European Youth Centre will take a more practical approach, including exercises in investigating and verifying information, understanding how journalists work under pressure and developing critical-thinking skills.
The initiative aims not only to help young Europeans navigate an increasingly complex information landscape, but also to listen to their ideas about strengthening journalism and democratic resilience.
Travel, accommodation and meals will be covered by the Council of Europe for those selected to participate.
