Two superyachts designed to support scientific exploration will be presented at the 2026 Monaco Yacht Show, bringing a distinctly research-focused dimension to Port Hercule…

As reported by Monaco-Matin, Dutch shipbuilder Oceanco will showcase the 111-metre Leviathan alongside the recently refitted 93-metre Draak (pictured above) during the event, which runs from September 23 to 26.

Both vessels belong to Gabe Newell, the video game entrepreneur behind Valve and owner of Oceanco since 2025. They form part of the Inkfish fleet, which supports scientific expeditions and research aimed at improving understanding and protection of the marine environment.

Delivered in November 2025, Leviathan has been conceived with exploration at its heart. Alongside accommodation for guests and crew, it incorporates a diving centre, laboratory and hospital, allowing scientists to conduct research during extended missions in remote waters.

Draak, originally built in 2014, emerged from an extensive refit in June. Its new capabilities include dedicated diving facilities, tenders and lifting equipment for specialised scientific operations. The two yachts can also work together during expeditions.

Oceanco says its approach involves collaborating directly with scientists to understand their practical requirements and developing technologies capable of supporting their work at sea.

Both vessels are expected to be displayed at Monaco’s cruise terminal during the show.
